8-7-12

I’ve never experienced flooding like this. My grandparents survived Ondoy and are still quite traumatized. They were left stranded on the roof before being rescued. This was kind of a re-run of what happened, only less worse.

I woke up groggily on that morning trying to put myself together because I had an exam in a few hours that I had not started studying yet. It was 7am and I was cursing myself because I didn’t wake up to my alarm. Again. I quickly took out my notes and went outside for some coffee. It was raining pretty hard and it was chilly. Everyone was at a panic and wouldn’t stop moving around. I was busy trying to make sense of my notes when I finally asked what the commotion was about. Only then did I notice how hard the rain was pouring. They told me to look outside and I saw that the flood was rapidly rising. My sister instructed me to put all my valuables on top of my cabinets and I did as I was told.

You have no idea how hard it was to stuff all my books up there with my guitar and camera and laptop and nutella and stuff. Hahahaha. Effort!

This was the state of our subdivision at the least because we left the house before it could get any worse or before it started pouring again.

Apparently, I lived in a river for 2 days.

We stayed at a neighbor’s 2nd floor because our own house is a bungalow and had no upper floors. Since we couldn’t get out, we were bored out of our minds and our food was limited. It was rough.

On the bright side, I finally found time to read this! It has been in my possession for quite some time now but have not found the time to really read it. I’ve been way too busy with school work that my pile of unread books has started to gang up on me again. I’m halfway through this now! :)

I’m just glad that the water didn’t rise up too high. It only reached our living room and our rooms were safe.

When I got home, I had to fix my room again I actually cleaned it! Like really clean it, not like just hid the mess behind cabinets and under the bed like I usually do. I had so much junk and papers! I also found the time to sort through my closet and found some clothes I’d like to donate to the victims of the flood who went through worse than what we did.

We were actually really fortunate. I’m looking forward to giving my share for #TulongTomasino and I encourage everyone to do the same. :)
